“God-given Moments to Grow"
Dear Friend,
Life experience pushes us to grow or to learn ways of playing it safe. Unpleasant experiences may be God-given moments in which we grow. Or they may become self-sabotaging opportunities.
Self-sabotage originates in the very human desire to escape the pain or unpleasantness of life disappointments. The psalmist wrote:
"It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes.”
Psalm 119:71ESV
Through the difficulties and afflictions of life we have the opportunity to learn the great ideas of God. These ideas both develop and enrich our souls. I encourage you to ask yourself two questions:
- What life experiences were most afflicting?
How did I respond to these afflictions?
If your life afflictions encouraged you to seek new wisdom from God, your soul grew through them. But if these afflictions led you to retreat into self protective approaches to life, you will revisit them in moments of self-sabotage.
God Bless You,
