“Speak Freely to God"

Dear Friend,

When the founding fathers debated the constitution, they refused to accept it without adding a Bill of Rights. These rights were expressed in numbered amendments. Almost every American knows the first amendment which states: “Congress should make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercises thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech; or the right of people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” I find it very interesting that our freedom of religion and right of free speech are expressed in the same amendment.

I believe that in my relationship to God an inseparable connection exists between how free I feel to approach and speak honestly with God and how I practice my faith daily. If I feel frightened or intimidated and unable to speak to God freely, my daily spirituality will suffer. But, if I sense that in Christ I am invited to speak freely to God my Heavenly Father, I will feel a more compelling desire and a more rational inclination to seek God in each of my daily challenges.

I invite you to exercise your God-given right to practice free speech in your daily exercise of your religious faith. By which I mean – to speak openly, freely and often to our Heavenly Father as you experience the struggles and joy of life.
