“A Lifestyle of Generosity"

Dear Friend,

Being a generous person requires both thoughtfulness and commitment. This thoughtfulness and commitment generally grows out of a proper sense of values. Our English word “generous” originally meant “high born.” Even today it contains the meaning of a “noble” or “magnanimous” quality of personhood.

Being generous means you have a more highly developed soul. But it also means that your soul continues to grow through acts of generosity. I would like to suggest to you three ways to become a more generous person:

Question your sense of entitlement and self-focus.

Remember the times of disappointment that are associated with self-indulgence.

Experiment with the biblical instruction of tithing.

I believe the Scriptures teach that the systematic giving of a tithe teaches us to budget in ways that both enrich and ennoble the human soul. If you are not a tither, the best evidence of the value of tithing is gained by trying it. It is a life experience that either proves its own quality or it doesn’t.

Your soul was created by God to be “high born,” “noble” and “magnanimous,” which means you were designed by God to find meaning, value and moral maturity by living a lifestyle of generosity.

God Bless You,

Doc
