“Life Tests: A Fresh Start”

Dear Friend,

I recently read David Grann’s book, The Lost City of Z. Grann narrated the exploring adventures of the British phenomenon, Percy Fawcett. Fawcett’s life fascinates me. His life experience tested him, and being a remarkable man, he viewed these tests as adventures. Percy came to believe that he was capable of more than most people because he had endured tests far beyond those of any of his peers.

I believe each of us can use “life tests” as fresh starting points. After each test, we should follow a three-step self-improvement process.

• What flaws did this test reveal in my thinking, motives and actions?

• How do I need to grow to be prepared for this type of “life test” in the future?

• What two things should I begin to do each day to transform “life tests” into “life adventures?”

“In everything the prudent acts with knowledge, but a fool flaunts his folly.” Proverbs 13:16ESV
