"Receiving God’s Favor"

Dear Friend,

If you aspire to have a healthy soul that’s equipped to live a quality life and prepared for eternal life, you need divine favor. I hope it doesn’t come as a surprise that the Scriptures teach us the importance of God’s favor:

Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! You have said, "Seek my face." My heart says to you, "Your face, LORD, do I seek.”
Psalm 27:7-8 (ESV)

The psalmist teaches us how to pray to God for divine favor:

  • We do well when we pray, “Be gracious to me.” This is a simple plea for divine favor
  • The Lord teaches us when He commands, “Seek My face.”
  • We seek God’s favor when our hearts pray, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.”

In this instruction, seeking the Lord’s face is a poetic way of saying, “Looking for God’s approval.”

May our gracious God respond to your diligent prayer and be gracious to you and favor you with a healthy soul.
