“Experiment With Prayer”

Dear Friend,

This is our spring Week of Prayer. People have gathered every morning at 6:00 a.m. and every evening at 6:00 p.m. to encourage each other and enrich our church through prayer.

Sometimes people share with me their discomfort with praying in a group. If this discomfort stops you from participating in our prayer week, you miss the blessing of divine grace mediated to your soul.

I suggest three approaches to prayer which do not require you to structure a vocal prayer.

  • Listen to, agree and affirm the prayers of others.
  • Quiet waiting: This type of prayer is sitting silently in the presence of the Lord, waiting and hoping for His blessing: “Wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I hope.” Psalm 130:5
  • Silent prayer: Sit with a group of other people and “think” your prayers to God.

I encourage you to experiment with prayer. I believe your life will be enriched and your awareness of the goodness of God will increase. I am also amazed at how encouraging it is to listen to other good people pray.
