“A ‘Weighty’ Thought about God”
Dear Friend,
Some ideas reaffirm the status quo of our lives. These ideas often become clichés that lose their power to motivate us. But other ideas can turn our world upside down if we permit them to fully embrace our thinking. A world-changing idea is this: “The meek shall inherit the land.”
We learned on Sunday that if we unpackage this idea, we might say, “The person with an internal code that ennobles him or her, will endure injury with patience and without resentment, to live a more successful life and experience greater peace.”
In Psalm 139:7 the psalmist said:
“How weighty to me are Your thoughts O God.”
Once a day, for an entire week, in God’s stillness, I invite you to write down and think through this subject of meekness:
- Challenge yourself where you feel impatient and resentful.
- Pray for an inner code that makes you noble.
- Question your inner sense of turmoil—or peace.
God’s ideas are “weighty.” They can re-order our lives if we permit them to have their complete influence over us.
