“Discover the Life You've Always Wanted”
Dear Friend,
Soon, all of our small groups will be reading and discussing John Ortberg’s book The Life You’ve Always Wanted. Ortberg declared his agenda when he wrote, “The goal of this book is to help us grow spiritually.” He offered another explanation that resonates with my own heart. He said, “I am called to become the person that God had in mind when he originally designed me.”
This small group emphasis and sermon series is designed to help each one of us take personal responsibility for our spiritual development. We will learn practical skills that help nourish our spirits and grow our souls. Our pastor of adult discipleship, Sharon Collings, has organized 60 small groups to make it convenient for all of us to go through the book together. If you haven’t registered yet, I encourage you to complete the insert in Sunday’s bulletin and be part of this church-wide spiritual growth emphasis.
I believe we honor God by growing to be the fullest people He has given us the potential to become. Fostering spiritual growth requires the kinds of conversations that happen in small groups. I look forward to the future with faith and hope, and expect great things because of this spiritual development that will occur through all our small groups.
