“A Thoughtful Plan”
Dear Friend,
January is an excellent time to restructure our lives so that we can live better in the future. Why not make 2008 the year that you restructure your economic life so you can escape debt slavery and begin to accumulate personal wealth.
Howard Dayton in his simple, but profound book, Your Money Map says, “Do yourself a favor: hate debt; start paying it off; spend less than you earn.” Let’s think about these three statements:
“Hate debt” – The reason we hate debt is because the interest we pay robs us of the money we need to invest in our own financial futures.
“Start paying it off” – You did not get into debt overnight and you probably will not get out of debt overnight – but if you establish a good plan, and stick to it payday after payday, you will free yourself from debt slavery.
“Spend less than you earn” – This is the core principal. Without this commitment, we will never accumulate personal wealth.
The Lord Jesus teaches us that an important part of any economic plan is tithing. In God’s sacred economy, we invest the first 10% of our income with Jesus Christ and then we budget the other 90% wisely. You can accumulate wealth in this world and in the eternity to come, but it requires a thoughtful plan and a diligent execution.
