“Christmas - a Time for Spiritual Recommitment ”

Dear Friend,

Christmas is just six days away! Most of our homes have Christmas trees, lights and cards, which express some sense of our joy. Hopefully, your shopping is done – but if not, there is always the excitement of last-minute shopping! Our Christmas programs at the church are now completed, and thousands of people experienced the delight of the Christmas Message in song.

I hope that in our cultural and social experiences this Christmas, we will find joy and meaning. At the same time, I pray that these experiences do not replace our connection with God, as we celebrate the incomprehensible wonder of God becoming a baby to mediate grace, mercy and peace to us. I also pray that you will schedule time for personal worship, and that in your heart, you will follow the shepherds’ example to seek Christ and worship Him.

Christmas is more than a single event in history. It is an annual moment of worship, where we follow the example of the wise men and offer to Jesus Christ our “selves” and our gifts.

May your Christmas celebration be both a social delight and a spiritual recommitment! I will be leading two Christmas Eve services on Monday evening at 5:00 & 7:00 p.m. If attending helps you enter and embrace the true spirit and worship of Christ at Christmas, I invite you to join me for one of these unique services.
