"Winning Teams”
Dear Friend,
Great teamwork is a divine idea that life experience affirms again and again. None of us ever achieves our full potential as individuals. Life demands relationships to grow and fully deploy our talents, gifts and skills.
To be a good team player, we should ask ourselves two questions:
- What are my greatest strengths?
- How can I relate to other people in a healthy and humble way, so that their strengths compensate for my weaknesses?
The first question teaches us how to make a significant contribution to any person or group with whom we work. Knowing your strengths and how to fully deploy them, reveals what your teammates have the right to expect you to contribute. On the other hand, acknowledging your weaknesses, and humbly permitting others’ strengths to be fully deployed, teaches you how to submit yourself to the team.
These two questions are absolutely necessary for husbands and wives to function as teams. Your differences do not need to drive you apart – they may be divine “binders.” If both spouses fully deploy their strengths and humbly accept help for their weaknesses, they create a winning team.
The Scriptures teach in Proverbs 12:15, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes but a wise man listens to advice.” This is a warning against being so smug, arrogant and self-assured that you cannot hear or accept the strengthening advice of your spouse.
God bless you as you develop winning skills to be a great team player in your relationships and your home.
