“Always Faithful ”
Dear Friend,
The Marine Corps motto is Semper Fidelis, which means “always faithful.” I believe we should all adopt this motto for ourselves and systematically question our faithfulness:
- Semper Fidelis at Home – Are you always faithful to your spouse and children?
- Semper Fidelis in the Workplace – Are you always faithful to accomplish the work that the people around you expect you to accomplish?
- Semper Fidelis at Church – Are you always faithful to attend, serve and tithe?
- Semper Fidelis to Yourself – Are you always faithful to the promises, qualities and behaviors that you expect of yourself?
The psalmist took the issue of faithfulness very seriously when he wrote in Psalm 7:9,
“O righteous God, You who test the minds and hearts.”
When God tests your mind, does he find you to be trustworthy? When He tests your heart, does He find it to be faithful? God is a righteous evaluator, and consistent faithfulness is a quality He looks for with expectation.
