"Alignment and Collaboration ”
Dear Friend,
I have been thinking recently about alignment and collaboration. In her book Tough Choices, former Hewlett-Packard Chairman & CEO Carly Fiorina wrote, “Alignment results from shared goals.” She continued, “Collaboration results from shared measures of success.”
I desire to align my life with God and His purpose. I am also passionate about collaborating with the Spirit of the Lord in doing good in my home, my work place and in the world. This means I must discern what God’s goals are, and make them my goals. It also means that I must learn how God measures success, and use this measurement to determine my success and failure.
What might happen in the world if each of us aligned ourselves with God, and collaborated in the pursuit of His ideas of success? What might happen if we aligned ourselves with God’s goals as a church, and collaborated together to execute these goals to the best of our ability? I believe alignment and collaboration are key issues in every thoughtful life and every effective organization.
Isaiah spoke for the Lord when he wrote:
“I will make you a light for the nations that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.” ESV
When we align ourselves with God and collaborate with His purpose, we become a bright light in a dark place, and a saving influence in a lost world.
