Building a Quality Life
Dear Friend,
Last Sunday, we followed Isaiah and Christ’s thinking about building a quality life. Both Christ and Isaiah used the idea of a cornerstone to teach us how to line up our lives with God. The apostle Paul followed Christ and Isaiah, by using the concept of building to describe a quality life. Paul asked, “What building materials are we using?” He suggested that a quality life is built with gold, silver and gems, and warned against building with wood, hay and straw.
If we translate the parable into real life terms, perhaps we should compare gold, silver and gems with “soul qualities” such as faith, hope, love, honesty and diligence. Wood, hay and stubble might be anger, resentment, pride and laziness. The qualities of our heart become the building materials of our life.
What types of materials are you using to build your life? If, in your daily quiet time, you line up your life with Jesus Christ, the Cornerstone—and if day by day, you strive to live out the noble qualities of a Christian soul—you are building a life worth living.
