The Love Assessment
Dear Friend,
Jesus Christ once asked Peter: “Do you love Me?” If Christ possessed divine knowledge, why did He ask Peter a question? Perhaps Christ intended the question to help Peter understand himself better. If this is true in fact, then Christ was asking Peter to evaluate his love priorities.
When was the last time you engaged in a personal love assessment? This process is easier than you might imagine:
First – On a sheet of paper list everything you love.
Second – Write a number beside everything on your list. (One represents what you love the most; your highest number represents what you love the least.)
Third – Re-write your list in numerical order.
Fourth – Evaluate your list by asking: Are my love priorities what they should be?
Fifth – If necessary, re-prioritize by moving that which you value the most into your top ten.
Love is too valuable to waste and too limited to squander. So, each of us must make conscious choices and do self-checks to love in thoughtful and meaningful ways. Christ asks each of us today: “What do you love and why?”
