Dear Friend,
Four Powers of Grace
Sometimes in life we have the desire to do what is right, but lack the energy or power to follow through. The psalmist reminded us of four powers that give us the capacity to be a force for good.
1. Power of reality: This grace offers the ability to see things as they really are, not the way we wish or fear they are.
2. Power of purpose: This grace gives us insight to say “yes” to the right things in life, and “no” to that which does not help us achieve our purpose.
3. Power of gratitude: This grace focuses our attention on the good, noble, and beautiful aspects of life, versus complaining, which focuses on the broken and inept.
4. Power of praise: This grace recognizes the good work in other people around us, and encourages them with praise. More is accomplished by lauding the good than insulting the bad.
My challenge to you is - test these powers in your own life and see if the gracious life is superior to what is very common in our world.
Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name.
I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,
and I will glorify Your name forever.
